Last Spring, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles announced the creation of its Icons Collection — a limited edition series of bikes inspired by some of the Bar and Shield brand’s most iconic motorcycles. And after previously rolling out a modern homage to the 1969 Electra Glide, the MoCo has now pulled the cover off of the second addition to the Icons Collection with the new Low Rider El Diablo.

Touted as a modernized take on Harley’s 1983 FXRT, the Low Rider El Diablo draws visual inspiration from Southern California’s 1980s surf and skate culture and the custom cruisers and choppers born out of that era. Rolling on dark matte bronze cast-aluminum wheels, the El Diablo comes cloaked in a hand-painted livery courtesy of Golden, Colorado’s Gunslinger Custom Paint. The livery starts with a bright red base before getting a second layer of red Sunglo then finally being treated to pin strips and a candy finish that’s juxtaposed by a slew of blacked-out components including the bike’s powertrain, front end and exhaust. A frame-mounted fairing, a low-profile tank console, a 6” tined high windshield, a deep solo seat, and old-school-looking 1” bars set on 4” pull-back risers complete the vintage, West Coast-inspired appearance.

Constructed around the Black and Orange’s Softail chassis, the bike features a Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine that’s been treated to high-performance cams, a tuned forward-facing heavy breather intake, and an offset two-into-two shotgun exhaust. The bike also features a factory-installed Rockford Fosgate high-output audio system complete with a 250-watt intelligent amplifier with digital signal processing tech, two 5.25” woofers, two remote tweeters, and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. On top of removable and lockable hard clamshell saddlebags with almost 54 liters of storage space, other noteworthy elements include inverted 43mm forks, a USB charging port, LED lighting all around, antilock braking, and cruise control, all as standard.

Limited to a one-time run of 1,500 serialized examples worldwide, the 2022 Harley-Davidson Low Rider El Diablo has been priced at $27,999 and is slated to roll into dealerships in the Fall of 2022.
